To our great Veterans: THANK YOU! 

From the dozens of OTW volunteers and more than 50 local partners and sponsors, Thank You for your service! On the Water events and opportunities are our way of honoring veterans and giving back to all of you who have given so much to all of us! OTW events and opportunities are available to U.S. military veterans who served our country in overseas conflicts or who have service-connected disabilities. Let’s Go Fishing! 

OTW fishing events are provided to veterans at zero cost. One-day fishing events take place at Indian Hills Resort on Lake Sakakawea (30 miles west of Garrison, ND). Boats, fishing gear, lunch and dinner are provided. Boats are captained by OTW volunteers. Veterans must be pre-registered to participate. Events are limited to 28 veterans per event. Dress accordingly per weather. Events start at 7 am, boats launch at 8 am. Off the water by 3 pm. Dinner at 5 pm. Events conclude approximately 7 pm. Participants must have current North Dakota fishing licenses. For questions about fishing licenses, contact the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. Events are subject to weather conditions.

OTW cabin is provided at zero cost and is available for use by U.S. military veterans. 

 

Cabin is located at Indian Hills Resort on Lake Sakakawea (30 miles west of Garrison, ND) 

  • Cabin is subject to availability
  • Individuals staying at the cabin are required to sign a liability release and follow all cabin and resort rules posted in the cabin
  • Bring your own food and beverages
  • Individual day of fishing or boat ride upon request and subject to availability
  • Bed sheets, pillows, and towels are provided
  • Cabin amenities include:
  • 2 bedrooms
  • Bathroom
  • Shower
  • Kitchen
  • Living room with TV
  • Air conditioning
  • Deck and patio
  • Grill with gas
  • Fire pit
  • Disability access ramp
  • Golf cart
  • Picnic tables 
  • Parking
  • Sleeps six comfortably 
  • Internet Access

Other OTW Opportunities 

  • Individual Day of Fishing (upon request and available volunteer boat captain)

  • Annual WY antelope hunt in coordination with the WY Chapter of Veterans Help Foundation *2-3 veterans drawn each year
